About Us – The Story of Kofuku
Kofuku, meaning happiness in Japanese, was born out of a simple yet profound idea: to bring the true flavours of Japan to India while creating dining experiences that connect people through joy, tradition, and togetherness.
The journey began in 2012 when Morup Namgyal and Rinchen Angchuk, driven by their love for authentic Japanese cuisine and culture, opened the first Kofuku in Mumbai. Their vision was to introduce India not just to Japanese food, but to the warmth of Izakaya-style dining—informal, soulful, and rooted in community. Guests sitting Tatami-style, sharing plates, laughter, and stories became the signature spirit of Kofuku.
Over the years, Kofuku has expanded beyond Mumbai to Leh-Ladakh, Goa, Delhi, and Gurgaon, bringing the essence of Japan to diverse corners of India. Each location celebrates the same philosophy—serving happiness on every plate.
Our menu is a reflection of Japan's culinary artistry, featuring delicate sushi rolls, comforting ramen bowls, sizzling teppanyaki, and classic Izakaya dishes. We've also embraced the bold and vibrant world of Korean flavours, offering an immersive dining experience that goes beyond borders.
